COP30: Sindag participates in agricultural document

The agenda and strategies of agricultural aviation were included in the IPA and FPA material for the UN conference that begins next Friday in Belém

The role of crop protection technologies (including agricultural aviation) as allies of sustainability and innovation in the field. This is one of the points defended by Sindag and included in the document of the Instituto Pensar Agropecuária (IPA) for the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), which begins next Friday (10) and runs until the 21st, in Belém, Pará. The topics were discussed at the meeting of the IPA’s Agricultural Defense Commission (Monday, 27) and included, the following day, in the finalized material during the luncheon-meeting of the Institute and the Parliamentary Agricultural Front of the National Congress (FPA). Sindag was represented at the meetings by its executive director, Gabriel Colle.

“The document will be taken to the meeting in Belém by the former Minister of Agriculture, Roberto Rodrigues, who will be the spokesperson for Brazilian agribusiness during the event,” Colle highlights. According to him, the agricultural aviation entity reinforced in the material the sector’s role among technologies allied to sustainability and innovation – reaffirming it as a tool aligned with the climate, and not as a liability. Contributing to strengthening Brazil’s image as a world reference in efficient and environmentally responsible production.

PROACTIVITY

According to the president of the FPA, Deputy Pedro Lupión (Republicanos/PR), the document will also be delivered to Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago, who presides over COP30. In this case, along with the request to include the topic on the official agenda of the meeting.

The text argues that Brazil already has one of the “most restrictive environmental laws in the world” and does not need a new climate plan, but rather to comply with the existing legal framework. According to Lupion, any change “without a technical basis” could pave the way for narratives against rural production and generate legal uncertainty.

The goal is a proactive agenda that presents tropical agriculture—developed in Brazil over the last 50 years—as a model for countries in the equatorial zone. The document argues that the combination of science, technology, productivity, and conservation can generate food security, income, and reduce inequality in poor countries.
